Obituary for DAVID THOMAS

David Michael Thomas passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, in Kingwood, Texas.

George Dellas Thomas, Jr. and Peggy Marie (Blue), both deceased, were proud parents of David Michael Thomas who was born on August 16, 1943.

At age 10 years old, David felt the call of God's love and guidance leading to his acceptance of Christ as his Savior followed by baptism The values that were instilled while growing up, helped David to work hard and do the best he could. He joined the workforce at age 14 and worked his way through college.

On July 6, 1963, David Michael Thomas married Uvonna Ann Searcy at Calvary Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas. David received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Texas Tech University in 1970. Upon graduation, he accepted a role as Process Engineer with Lyondell. He was promoted though out his career and became Vice President of Manufacturing. His team received special recognition for developing the Alyaska Pipeline Arco flow lubricant, nick named Slick Um.

David took an enhanced retirement plan from BP in 2002 after 44 years in the workforce. After two years in retirement, a deep-seated work motivation resulted in his going back to work for 11 more years in Project Engineering.

David was a loving husband, father, deacon in the church, and leader of his own family. His greatest enjoyment in life was the love received from his wife, Uvonna; two daughters, Davonna and Suzanne; grandchildren, Jordan, Miranda, and Kaitlyn; and great-granddaughter, Leighton. His lifelong hope was that he had been a positive influence over their lives.

David and Uvonna felt God's leadership throughout their lives.
