Obituary for HERMAN Bailey "Mike" WINSLETT, JR.

Herman Bailey "Mike" Winslett Jr, 69 of Commanche TX, passed away unexpectedly on January 9th, 2023.

Mike was born in San Saba Texas on December 25, 1953, to Joetta Bessent and James Rolan. He was adopted by Herman Bailey Winslett Sr in 1956.

He was a master electrician, employed by General Dynamics Electric Boat in Connecticut for many years where he wired nuclear submarines for the U.S. Navy. Following a layoff in the late 90s, Mike and his wife Sylvia bought a bagel shop where he successfully taught himself how to make bagels from scratch, and did so until Sylvia's passing. Recently, he had began working part time in the deli department at Brookshires in Commanche.

Never missing an opportunity for a good conversation, debate or argument, Mike stood up for what he believed in and thought was right, no matter who's toes he stepped on in the process. He treasured his family more than anything, loved to aggravate and play jokes just as much as he loved fishing, gardening, boating, cooking, and football.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Sylvia, sister Cindy Peschka, and brother Shane Winslett. He is survived by his 3 children, Heather Kral, Amy Szozda & Aaron Harakaly, Michael & Ejona Winslett, 8 grandchildren, Brian Kral, William, Talia & Lesia Szozda, and Mikaela, Mason, Cameron & Maddison Winslett, 2 brothers Randell Turney and James Rolan, and his beloved furry companion Sassy.

Mike will be missed beyond words for all that knew and loved him. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convience of his children.
Condolences and flowers may be sent in his memory to Amy Szozda 148 Cushman Rd Ashford CT 06278
