Obituary for KEITH DODD Sr.

KEITH PAT DODD, SR, 80, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to many, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, October 23, 2020 following a brief illness. He was born in Comanche, Texas on May 25, 1940 to Louis Curbello (L.C.) Dodd, Sr. and Gladys Ellington Dodd and spent the majority of his life in Dallas, Texas. In his youth, Keith was athletic and known for having a great smile. He began his career as a Master Electrician with Dallas Power and Light Company (later Texas Utilities) in 1959. He retired in 1992 and devoted his time to family, farming and ranching.

Keith was a passionate musician, having played the guitar throughout his entire life. Patiently teaching his children and grandchildren the guitar and playing the guitar with them was a great source of pride. He had no greater joy than playing and singing together at family gatherings, both large and small.

As a member of the Canary Islands Descendants Association, Keith was an eighth-generation native Texan descended from Juan Curbelo, head of one of the sixteen families originating in Lanzarote, Canary Islands, making the long journey to the Villa de San Fernando (San Antonio, Texas) arriving on March 9, 1731. He was able to research his family lineage during a recent memorable visit to Spain and Yuco, Lanzarote, Canary Islands.

Survived by loving wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Rose King Dodd, sons Keith Pat Dodd, Jr. (John K. Pettiette), Deryl Dwaine Dodd; daughters Cheryl Elaine Dodd Nabors, Marjorie Dodd Sullivan (Michael). Grandchildren Keaton Dodd, Kellen Dodd, Krista Nabors Dick (Nathan), Kara Nabors Dotson (Danny), Colton Nabors, Clayton Nabors, William K. Anderson, III, Katherine Anderson. Great-grandchildren Keller Dotson, Ryder Dotson. Identical twin brother, Kenneth Mike Dodd, Sr. Several in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Louis Curbello Dodd, Sr., Gladys Ellington Dodd.

A private family graveside memorial was held on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Sardis Cemetery, Comanche County. The family will host a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 14, 2:00 p.m., Comanche Funeral Home, 411 W. Grand Avenue, Comanche, Texas 76442. Social Distancing Service.
