Obituary for MARIA TORRES

Maria A. Torres, age 67, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 in Abilene, Texas, with her family by her side. Maria was born on May 24, 1954, in Mexico to Felipe Prado and Lucrecia (Vasquez). She was a homemaker and loved her family dearly. Maria was a member of the Catholic religion and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Comanche, Texas. She was a resident of Comanche for 43years.
To so many she was known as Ama. She had a love for animals, plants, the Dallas Cowboys, and a passion for cooking. Her home was always open and if you ever stopped by, you were probably not going to leave there without first eating a home cooked meal. She touched so many lives with her generosity and passion for life. She leaves behind so many beautiful memories and will always be in our hearts.
She is survived by her two sons, Javier Torres of Comanche and Jose Torres and wife, Sally, of Comanche; four daughters, Lupe Ramirez and husband, Arturo, of Comanche, Alicia Duran and husband, Roberto, of The Colony, Sandra Leal and husband, Paul, of Comanche, Sylvia Torres and husband Alfredo Guerrero, of Comanche; three brothers, Juan Prado and wife, Estela, of Comanche, Felipe Prado of Comanche, Eddie Prado and wife, Nellie, of DeLeon; sister, Teresa McBee and husband, Billy, of Stephenville; twenty grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Felipe Prado and Lucrecia (Vasquez) and one brother, Ruben Prado.

Lunch will be provided for the family following the service at Prado’s Mexican Restaurant in DeLeon, Texas. If anyone wishes to donate a covered dish, please have it at Prado’s between 1:00-2:00 pm.
