Obituary for ROSCOE JACK SNELL

Roscoe Jack Snell, age 79, journeyed home to his Heavenly Father on Friday, Jul 24, 2020, in Gustine, TX.

COMMEMORATIVE CEREMONY: A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Friday, Aug 21, 2020, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3325 N. 12th Street Abilene, TX.

INTERMENT: Interment services with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, Aug 21, 2020, Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene.

Jack was born on Oct 19, 1940, in Anson, TX, to Roscoe Ivan and Ethyl Pearl Bearden Snell. On Aug 16, 1963, he was united in marriage to Katheryn Gail Summers in the First Baptist Church of McCamey, TX. Jack was a United States Navy Veteran, retiring in 1979 as a Chief Petty Officer after 20 yrs. of dedicated service to the USA. He was at sea most of his career repairing aircraft radars. The time he was not mending Aircraft he devoted to his family. Jack loved to pass on the knowledge and experience he gained in the Navy, he was an excellent teacher, and after retiring from the Navy, he was never idle. While working for Hobart Sales & Service, he obtained his Associates of Applied Science Degree from Cisco Junior College (CJC), Abilene. Once Jack finished school, he taught Electrical, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration courses at CJC, while also running his appliance repair business in Tye. Later in Rankin, together with Katheryn, he owned and operated a pizza and hamburger joint, as well as running a Buy, Sell, and Trade shop. Jack also served as Mayor and City Alderman for the City of Rankin.

Jack is remembered with great fondness by his loving wife of almost fifty-seven years, Katheryn Snell of Gustine; daughter, Carolyn Wellborn, and husband Ronald of Abilene; sons, Billy Jack Snell, and wife Susan of Highland, UT, and Ivan Kirk Snell, and wife Jennetta of Mexia; nine grandchildren: Zackery Shahan, Kyra Juliano, Stephanie Thigpen, Tabitha Shahan, Braden Snell, Paul Snell, Steven Snell, Wendell Snell, and Jade Snell; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Bob Snell and wife Glenda of Sidney; sisters, JoAnn Woodard of May, and Freda Whisenant of Lamesa; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in departing this mortal life by his parents, Roscoe and Ethyl Snell; brothers-in-law, Bill Whisenant, Robert Woodard, and Lewis Leroy Jones; sisters-in-law, DeAlva Snell and Marilyn Jones; and niece, Cheryl Jean Snell Pettijohn.

Our family is grateful for his kindness, loving heart, and particularly his expression of great faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
